Love is Black & White

When it comes to wedding cakes tradition often dictates that white, ivory and soft pastels be the color scheme of your wedding cake. Well, if you didn’t have someone dictate the dress you’d be wearing, why start with your wedding cake? Bold color, when it is tastefully embraced, can be a wonderful enhancement to your wedding cake. In the same way that the perfect accessory can put a whole outfit together, your wedding cake can be just the pop of color and exciting contrast your reception needs.

Never be afraid to blend. There’s just something stunning about the contrast of black and white, peacock blue and platinum, or blush pink and chocolate brown that can just take your breath away (not to mention, highlight the custom details you took the time to create with your cake designer). When coming up with the concept and theme for your wedding cake, consider using color in bold ways. Color contrast will allow the true artwork of your cake to stand out and be an eye-catching and memorable element of your day.

Intricate and detailed design requires one very important aspect… a cake designer with any eye for detail and a fearless commitment to bringing your vision to reality. Do your homework and take your time to find just the right cake designer. After spending the time deciding the perfect details of your dress, the textures and colors of the flowers, and even the design on the groomsmen’s ties, why not incorporate that same attention to detail into the outside of your cake. Bold is beautiful!

Voted NACE #1 Cake Trend for 2012

For Goodness Cakes was honored to win 1st Place Cake in the Greater Atlanta Chapter of NACE, National Association of Catering Executives, prestigious Design Trends competition at 200 Peachtree in Atlanta, Georgia. The panel judged competition showcased the creativity of Atlanta’s wedding industry experts, from the floral design and most spectacular cake designs to the latest innovative buffet displays, creative invitations, phenomenal furniture, and new exciting event trends.

After the cake design was voted the top cake trend of 2012, we thought it just couldn’t get any better. Then, our design was also voted by hundreds of our peers in the wedding industry as the Atlanta Chapter Favorite!

This accomplishment is truly something we are proud of, and we are so very grateful to all of our professional peers for this amazing honor. The excitement is barely containable as we think about incorporating these new design elements into our brides’ cakes this year!

Our newest creation for the contest was aptly named “Dress Me Pretty” and was inspired by the Gatsby era of fun and fanciful flare.

Each of its five tiers features a uniquely distinctive and dramatic couture element with completely edible decor. The top tier, or headpiece of the cake, is dawned with a delicately laid sugar veil overlay with satin bands and glittering embellishment. The angled second tier is covered in a bevy of pearls and draws the eye downward to the glimmering crystallized third tier. The stunning fourth tier is delicately wrapped in soft, fabric-inspired puffs of fondant, gently dusted with a shimmering sugar glow and custom hand painted buttons. The final tier of this award winning cake features delicate draping with individually inset jewels, and a beautifully finished satin band.
